Even though I've been the victim of online internet piracy with my movies Flatland and Hive Mind, I am dead-set against SOPA, the latest piece of dung that's been making its way through the sullied halls of Congress.

SOPA is supposedly designed to prevent online piracy. Instead it puts incredible burdens on ISP's, website owners, and the freedom of speech we should all protect with our lives.

Yes, I'm against SOPA, even though I've been the victim of online Internet piracy. Why? Because freedom is more important than security from theft.

Do you hear me, Motion Picture Association of America?

Red State's Neil Stevens has it exactly right:

There's also an alternative to SOPA that actually will work. The OPEN act promoted by Darrell Issa and Ron Wyden would use proven techniques for stopping foreign infringers; Apple uses it already against patent infringement. The ITC exists for a reason.

...Chris Dodd's MPAA and now the RIAA are demanding SOPA, not OPEN. They don't care if the Internet is open; they think if they shut down the Internet in America that you'll buy more CDs and DVDs. They want government to pick winners and losers, not just protect rights. OPEN protects rights. SOPA pits one industry against all others.

What most concerns me is that the bill can be used as an instrument to target mom-and-pop Internet sites, especially conservative new media bloggers. Larger operations like Google or YouTube can afford to field bogus copyright claims by beefing up its staff. How will that work for one man operations? They can barely keep their web pages up, much less deal with SOPA fights all day long.

Do you really want Eric Holder to be judge, jury, and executioner of your website?

Read the bill, and you can see how the law can be gamed to damage and silence political opponents.

I expect this sort of crap from Chris Dodd and Debbie Wasserman Shultz, and all the other Democrat-Socialists who are co-sponsoring this bill.

But I don't expect this from Republicans. Here's the list of the jackasses in elephant clothing who have co-sponsored this bit of freedom killing paper. If you live in their district, consider running against them this year. Heck, I'll even make a viral campaign ad for you at cost. Even if you're a kid fresh out of college or some homeless dude, you can't be any worse than these clueless skunks:

Lamar Smith, Enemy to Freedom of Speech

Representative Lamar Smith, 21st District, Texas. He's been in office for 13 terms. Time to retire him before he generates any more creepy or stupid. Go back to your ranch, you jackass in elephant clothing!

Representative Lee Terry, Traitor to Free Speech

Representative Lee Terry, 2nd District, Nebraska. Really Lee? Really?

Representative Steve Scalise, Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA.

Representative Steve Scalise, 1st District, Louisiana. Move out of my home state, you Vichy rat! The food there is far too good for the likes of you!

Dennis Ross, Tyrant

Representative Dennis Ross, District 12, Florida. Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Benjamin Quayle, Traitor to Freedom

Representative Benjamin Quayle, District 3, Arizona. The apple doesn't fall far from the deer in the headlights. Do we really need a Quayle dynasty?

Rep. Alan Nunnelee, 1st District, Mississippi. Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Alan Nunnelee, 1st District, Mississippi. Beware the helmet of hair!

Rep. Thomas Marino, PA 10th District. Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Thomas Marino, PA 10th District. Surely PA can do better than this fellah's hairplugs.

Rep. Peter King, NY-3. Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA.

Rep. Peter King, NY-3. Peter, you severely disappoint me with this. Despite your usually being pretty good on the freedom thing, your co-sponsorship of this bill with Herr Schultz makes me think you've been in Congress too long.

Rep. Tim Griffin AR-2. Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only. Arkansas. Yeah, he looks kinda Clintonian to me.

Rep. Tim Griffin AR-2. Arkansas? Yeah, he looks kinda Clintonian to me. Or is that Huckabeeish? Whatever.

Rep. Robert Goodlatte, 6th District, Virginia. Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Robert Goodlatte, 6th District, Virginia. Hey Goodlatte, maybe you should spend more time on inconsequential bills like H.Res. 489, "Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the symbols and traditions of Christmas should be protected for use by those who celebrate Christmas", and stop co-sponsoring tyranny with Debbie-Wasserman Shultz? It's safer that way.

Rep. Elton Gallegly CA-24. Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Elton Gallegly CA-24. Another 13-termer. It's gone to his head. Someone please run against this jerk.

Rep. Steven Chabot [R, OH-1] Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Steven Chabot, OH-1. This guy is a primo-anti-free-speech tyrannical jackass. He also likes to seize cameras at townhall meetings. Creep!

Rep. John Carter TX-31 Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. John Carter TX-31. Another co-sponsor of a bill expressing "no confidence" in Attorney General Eric Holder - but happy to let Holder shut down your website by fiat!

Rep. Mary Bono Mack, CA-45 Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Mary Bono Mack, CA-45. The Olympia Snowe of California strikes again.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, TN-7, Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, TN-7. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha! You're from Tennessee. You should know better.

Rep. Mark Amodei, NV-2, Collaborator with Socialist Tyrant Debbie Wasserman Schultz on SOPA. Republican in Name Only.

Rep. Mark Amodei, NV-2. Dude! Another co-sponsor of a bill expressing "no confidence" in Attorney General Eric Holder - but happy to let Holder shut down your website by fiat!

One last thought for you if you're a new media conservative blogger all wrapped around the axle about the GOP primaries: pay attention to your Congressman. Give him or her hell. You probably can't do much to affect the Presidential elections, but you can certainly do something about these scumbags, who are perfectly content to see your website shut down by copyright trolls.

All for the love of that sweet, sweet Hollywood money.

Special Tip: If you write a blog about your collaborationist Vichy-style Congresscritter, be sure to put their picture on your site and tag their face with something befitting their true nature, as I've done. It helps in Google searches.
